Book Review: Walkoff Wedding by Maren Moore ⚾

⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

Truthfully, I never gave a lot of thought about what my wedding would one day look like. But I can guarantee my wildest imagination wouldn’t dream up a twenty-four hour chapel in the middle of the French Quarter with a girl that I didn’t think I’d ever meet in person. Or that my marriage would be a fake one, at least not on paper.

Synopsis

I fell for my secret pen pal believing we would never meet but now . . . he’s my husband.

Grant Bergeron is Orleans University’s playboy first baseman. He’s charming, kind… and a tad arrogant. But underneath his party guy demeanor, he’s more than anyone sees. I needed a husband, and he strode in like prince charming, taking me up on the marriage pact from our past. One that I never imagined actually happening.

Our I do’s were meant to be temporary, a walk-off wedding that benefited us both. But when he takes our vows more seriously than I expect, old feelings begin to resurface. Now we’re sharing a too small apartment and he’s everywhere. In my room, in my bed, and… in my heart.

Our marriage is supposed to be fake, but I think I’m falling for my husband.

*Walkoff Wedding is book 3 in the Orleans University series and can be read as a complete standalone.

Just like that . . . we’re married, and for the first time since meeting her, I realize how much trouble I might actually be in. Because I liked kissing her far too much for an arrangement that is supposed to be fake.

My Review

WOW, I can’t believe this is the end of Orleans University!! When I started this series in March with an ARC of book two, Catching Feelings, I didn’t think I would feel so connected to a wide array of characters, but I was so pleasantly surprised. Reading Grant and Addie’s story felt like a warm hug - having visited NOLA a few times, I loved being transported from the French Quarter, to OU campus, to Grant’s childhood home through Maren’s imagery. I attended a smaller college campus that is so reminiscent of OU, so while reading I couldn’t help feeling nostalgic for my own college experiences, including the friendships I gained from my own sport club activities. (Fun fact, I also worked in my college’s art building, so I felt especially close to Addie when we see her attending classes and working on her portfolio!)

As always, Maren delivered a perfectly balanced sweet and spicy story, and the added Cinderella re-telling details we’re *chef’s kiss*. I think Walkoff Wedding has taken the crown as my favorite of the trilogy!
